Tyler James Barboza
Tyler James Barboza is an avid trombonist, composer, and euphoniumist. A recipient of the 2015 Kingston Chamber Music Scholarship, Mr. Barboza is an active part of chamber music in Rhode Island, collaborating with both the Whisper Keys brass quintet, as well as the Renaissance Five. He has played with such musicians as Steve Davis, Roger Ingram, Jerry Bergonzi, Jamie Cullum, Sam Bari, and has collaborated with tubist Gary Buttery and pianist Jennifer Maxwell. Mr. Barboza has had his works performed by both the URI New Music Initiative, as well as a work commissioned and premiered by the Mothertounge Ensemble. He has studied under the direction of Gary Buttery, Gabriel Langfur, Eliane Aberdam, Kirsten Volness, and Benjamin Griffin. A supporter of new music, Mr. Barboza has performed, commissioned, and written works for solo instruments and electronics. He is actively seeking to expand the way that performers and audiences alike think about music, adding in visual flair and spoken art.
Tyler currently resides in Narraganset, Rhode Island.
